The Marines and Sailors of Marine Corps Forces Central Command hosted a 5K, April 29, to recognize April as Sexual Assault Awareness Prevention Month. More than 200 service members and family members ran to support fighting sexual harassment and creating awareness for bystander intervention. Pictured left to right, Col. Brad Close, MARCENT Chief of Staff and grand marshal of the run, Army Specialist Chris Ubias (Male 3rd place: 19:59), Marine Lance Cpl. Lenadjah White (Male 2nd place 19:18), Air Force Senior Airman Matthew Altimari (Male 1st Place: 18:16), Navy Electrician Tech 1st Class Valerie Blasewitz (Female 1st place: 22:34), Ms. Betsy Allen (Female 2nd place: 24:39), Ms. Theresa Winterhalter (Female 3rd place: 25:00), and Lt. Col. Maureen Murphy, MARCENT's senior administrative officer and event organizer. "We were very happy to have hosted more than 200 runners to bring in the month of events on a high note," said Murphy. "Even if just one participant from today's run steps up to prevent even one case of sexual harassment, we consider our event a huge success."
