Sergeant Major Steven L. Lunsford

Sergeant Major Lunsford is from Stanford, Kentucky. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 1989 and graduated Recruit Training at Parris Island, S.C. in September 1990.  He subsequently reported to the School of Infantry and graduated as a 0351 anti-tank Assaultman.

He has served in an array of duties to include, Sentry and Patrol Team Leader B Co. Marine Barracks, Subic Bay, Republic of the Philippines, Team Leader 1st Battalion 9th Marines, Section Leader 2nd Battalion 1st Marines, Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Commander and Company Gunnery Sergeant 3rd Battalion 5th Marines, Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Series GySgt, D.I. School Instructor and Company 1stSgt Parris Island, S.C, 1stSgt Beach and Terminal Operations Company 2d FSSG.

His assignments as a unit Sergeant Major include Combat Logistics Battalion 22, Combat Logistics Battalion 8, Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 464, Marine Detachment Fort Lee, Va., 8th Marine Regiment 2d Marine Division and 2d Marine Logistics Group, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

His deployment and operational experiences include 11th MEU, 13th MEU, two deployments with 22d MEU 2007/2009, 31st MEU, Operation Fiery Vigil-Republic of the Philippines, Restore Hope-Somalia, Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan, Unified Response-Haiti, Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Africa.

Sergeant Major Lunsford reported for his present duty as the Sergeant Major for Marine Forces Central Command on 20 September, 2019.
