Intrepid Maven Series

DMA Marines
U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Central Command

U. S. Marine Corps Forces Central Command conceptualized and implemented the INTREPID MAVEN Exercise Series in late 2021, with the first iteration occurring in Jordan in March 2022. INTREPID MAVEN is an episodic U. S. Marine Corps Forces force deployment-tailored training series designed to…

  • Demonstrate persistence in partnering
  • Prepare for the demands of a volatile and fluid AOR
  • Conduct unit-level training in new and challenging areas, spaces and facilities
  • Demonstrate service relevance
  • Demonstrate service ability to project forces to meet emergent requirements
  • Present strategic messaging in support of U. S. Central Command priorities
  • Gain and maintain AOR access familiarity
  • Utilize multi-nodal transportation in a global environment
  • Conduct service experimentation
  • Validate all-domain operating concepts
  • Present unique and dynamic training opportunities

…with the objective of:

  • Gaining unit readiness
  • Deterring malicious adversary intent
  • Demonstrating global responsiveness for crisis-response and contingencies
  • Increasing USMC flexibility, adaptability and readiness
  • Supporting CENTCOM theater priorities and objectives
  • Strengthening regional ally and partner-nation relationships
  • Improving joint, bilateral and multi-lateral interoperability
  • Improving mutual security
  • Projecting forces forward to deter adversary malign intent

Supported by a wide array of forces, drawn from across the USMC and the broader joint force, as well as from partner nations, INTREPID MAVEN occurs multiple times annually, typically with alternating partner nations from throughout the theater, and, in some instances, with a multinational collection of interested and committed participants mutually supporting and benefiting from exercise objectives.

Key to the success of the INTREPID MAVEN exercise series is the dedication and support of participating USMC units and commands, as well as that of CENTCOM’s component force units and commands, from around the globe. Despite their own often heavy employment and deployment operation and training schedules, they enthusiastically sign on to support INTREPID MAVEN exercise activities and objectives, as well as, residually, to take full advantage of IM training locations, activities and partnerships.
