Colonel Armando Daviú

Ms. Gleason's presence is required to support the Digital Engagement Team at Marine Week in Chicago, Illinois from 8-14 July 2025. Ms. Gleason leads Marine Corps Public Web and is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and population of content to the official Marine Corps websites at https://www.marines.mil and all associated subdomains.  On site presence is required to ensure content is immediately uploaded and published to the Flagship and Marines250 Marines.mil sites.  Marine Corps Public Web does not have an Active Duty Marine assigned to this activity to send in her place.

Colonel Armando Daviú is a former enlisted Infantry Marine who graduated from UCLA in 2004 through the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Program with a degree in Latin American Studies. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant. After completing The Basic School and the Basic Public Affairs Officer Qualification Course, he reported to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, in January 2005, where he served as Internal Information Officer, Deputy Director, and Director of Public Affairs for both the air station and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. Before leaving Miramar, he earned the Foreign Area Officer designation for Latin America.

In 2008, Col Daviú was assigned to the Center for Advanced Operational Culture Learning (CAOCL) at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, serving as the Western Hemisphere Desk Officer. He deployed to Colombia as a regional advisor with a Marine Corps Training Advisory Group and participated in a two-year U.S. Joint Forces Command and NATO multinational experiment in Spain, Hungary, and Greece. Additionally, he supported capstone exercises at Marine Corps University and the Marine Corps Center for Irregular Warfare.

In 2011, he was assigned to the Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group (MCSCG) at Fort Story, Virginia, where he led the SOUTHCOM Coordination Liaison and Training Team. He deployed to Guatemala as the Forward Coordination Element for Southern Partnership Station and later to Paraguay to lead a Marine Training Team. In 2012, he returned to Guatemala to support Operation Martillo and conducted capabilities-based assessments in Guatemala and El Salvador. In 2013, he led a Subject Matter Expert Exchange for a Brazilian Marine amphibious exercise and a Joint Riverine Training Team in Peru.

In 2014, Col Daviú was assigned to U.S. Marine Corps Forces, South (MARFORSOUTH) as the Director of Public Affairs and Strategic Communications Lead. He deployed throughout South America as the lead Public Affairs Officer for the USS America/SPMAGTF-South deployment, coordinating media engagements for General John F. Kelly, Commander of U.S. Southern Command. He also supported General Robert Neller, then Commandant of the Marine Corps, during the Amphibious Leaders of the Americas Symposium in Cartagena, Colombia. Col Daviú conducted Information Related Capabilities (IRC) assessments in Belize, Honduras, and Guatemala, serving as the primary military spokesperson and planner for exercises such as TRADEWINDS in Jamaica and UNITAS-Amphibious in Brazil. Additionally, he led IRC exchanges in Belize and Chile and served as a member of SOUTHCOM’s Strategic Communications Working Group.

In 2018, Col Daviú was assigned as the Personnel Exchange Program (PEP) Officer for the Peruvian Marine Force in Ancon, Peru, where he supported security cooperation engagements and the development of the Peruvian amphibious force. He also served as the U.S. Embassy's Public Affairs Section military liaison and spokesperson. In 2020, he reported to the Joint Staff J7, Deployable Training Division (DTD), in Suffolk, Virginia, as the Joint Communication Strategy and Information Environment Observer/Trainer, supporting Tier 1 exercises for EUCOM, NORTHCOM, and SOUTHCOM. He was later appointed DTD's Lead Planner for Col Armando A. Daviú MCTM-UAE OIC SOCOM, NORTHCOM, and SOUTHCOM’s Tier 1 exercises, and then became the Fires and Effects Section Chief.

In 2024, Col Daviú was assigned to the Office of Defense Cooperation at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where he serves as the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Director of Training. Due to his expertise in Information in Joint Operations, he also serves as the office’s lead for all matters related to strategic communications and Military Information Support Operations (MISO).

In 2025, while working at the Office of Defense Cooperation at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Col Daviú was assigned to become the officer in charge for the Marine Corps Training Mission – United Arab Emirates.

Col Daviú is a graduate of the Expeditionary Warfare School (2013), the Marine Corps Command and Staff College Distance Education Program, where he was a distinguished graduate (2018), the Joint and Combined Warfighting School (2020), and the Marine Corps War College, where he earned a master’s in strategic studies (2024). His military education also includes the Security Cooperation Planners Course, the MAGTF Information Operations Practitioners Course, the Civil-Military Operations Planners Course, the Advanced MAGTF Information Operations Planners Course, the Joint Targeting Staff Course, The George Washington University Foreign Area Officer Advanced Regional Course and the Security Cooperation Organization Operations Course.

His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars.
