Death of U.S. Service Member in Bahrain

MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, TAMPA -  A U.S. service member assigned to Naval Amphibious Force, Task Force 51/5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade was found dead on Aug. 11, 2020 in a non-combat related incident.

The service member’s remains are in the process of being returned to the United States. The U.S. Marine Corps and Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating the circumstances of the death. In accordance with Department of Defense policy, the identity of the service member will be released 24 hours following notification of next of kin.

Naval Amphibious Force, Task Force 51/5 Marine Expeditionary Brigade, a Joint Task Force-capable Headquarters, responds to crises and contingencies; coordinates plans, and executes operations; conducts theater security cooperation; and advances emerging Naval concepts at sea, from the sea, and ashore in order to support U.S. Central Command, 5th Fleet, and MARCENT theater objectives.
