Staff Sgt. Matthew Dolan, a loadmaster assigned to Travis Air Force Base unloads an AN/TPS-59 from a C-5 Galaxy at an undisclosed base in Southwest Asia Feb. 28, 2013. The AN/TPS-59 is dual-purpose long range radar deployed to the region in support of U.S. Air Forces Central Command’s Integrated Air Defense and Missile shield. The AN/TPS-59 is one of the U.S. military’s most powerful radars and the systems inherit mobility allows for rapid worldwide deployment. The radar will be operated by Marines from 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Air Control Group 38, Marine Air Control Squadron 1, based in Yuma, Ariz.
