Update: Death of U.S. Service Member in Bahrain

MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, TAMPA - U.S. Marine Sergeant Trevor Goldyn assigned to 5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade was found dead on Aug. 11, 2020 in a non-combat related incident.

Sergeant Goldyn, a communications Marine, entered the Marine Corps June 2016. His awards included Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.

The Department of Defense is coordinating the return of Sergeant Goldyn to the United States. The investigations into the incident remain ongoing.

The command continues to work closely with the family during this difficult time.

MARCENT is designated as the Marine Corps service component for U.S. Central Command. MARCENT is responsible for all Marine Corps forces in the CENTCOM area of responsibility.

The CENTCOM AOR is an area larger than the Continental United States, is comprised of 20 countries, 522 million people, 7 major languages and more than 12 major religions.
